My name is Stacy Tippens and I am the Director of Instructional Design and Innovation at the Madeira School in McLean, Virginia. I have been at Madeira since 2014 and have also served as an Educational Technology Specialist and the Co-Chair of the Math/Science/STEAM departments. I have worked as an IT or Ed Tech Specialist since 1997, only taking a break when I had my now 21-year-old daughter. In addition to working as an Educational Technology Specialist, until 2019 I edited The National Coalition of Girls' School's podcast , titled "PEP Talks," in 2018 I created an online micro-course for The Association of Technology Leaders in Independent Schools (ATLIS) and I have taught Hebrew and Jewish Studies at a local Synagogue where I also implemented the Google Suite for Education. I have my MEd in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Blended and Online Learning from George Mason University. As an innovator, Ed Tech Specialist, and technology coach, I have a passion for helping others innovate in all areas of education.
Since coming to Madeira I have had the opportunity to sponsor many educational technology initiatives and serve on many committees in service of our school vision of “Leading innovation in girls’ education,” and our strategic goal of, “Bring the world to Madeira and Madeira to the world.” Some of my accomplishments include Chairing the AI Taskforce, designing the remote learning plan and professional development during the COVID-19 pandemic, working on our in-house STEAM initiative, co-chairing our yearly community conference called MadeiraED, opening an audio recording studio, developing curriculum utilizing Virtual and Augmented Realities, Chairing the DV/Maryland/Virginia STEAM Professional Learning Community, and serving on the 2018 and 2019 ATLIS Conference planning committee. I also serve das the communications coordinator for the parents of the Class of 2022 at Langley High School and the President of the Saxon Stage Theatre Boosters.
In my personal time my husband and I run the Nova Board Game Group. Partnering with the local public libraries with a mission of building community through board gaming. My hobbies are crocheting, cooking, and spend time with family and friends.
